The history of the French brand Babolat dates back to 1875, when its founder Pierre Babolat develops the first natural gut strings used in tennis rackets. It was a major discovery for that moment, which allowed the Babolat brand to rank first among other tennis equipment manufacturers. However, the company didn't stop at its previous achievements and was constantly evolving, developing innovative solutions. In 1925, the brand made another breakthrough and developed the revolutionary Babolat VS string, which is still used today.
In the 1950s, the brand becomes internationally recognized and its products reach the most prominent tennis players. That's when the company develops the first Elascord nylon string and begins expanding into foreign markets, including Italy, Argentina, the United States, Scandinavia and Australia. A decade later, the brand launches ready-made tennis sets. Over the years, Babolat has partnered with many athletes. These included Björn Borg, who won 11 Grand Slam tournaments, Yannick Noah, winner of the 1983 French Open, as well as Rafael Nadal, Fernando Gonzalez and Kim Clisters.
Since its inception, the Babolat brand has been setting new trends in the production of tennis equipment and developing cutting-edge technological solutions that are applied not only to tennis racquets, but also to padel, badminton and squash racquets. The company also offers specialized balls, as well as professional clothing and footwear. Today Babolat is one of the largest manufacturers of accessories and equipment for racket sports, whose tradition dates back to the beginning of interest in tennis in the world.
